Members of the “Janawaramaye Neethignayo” (Lawyers for the People’s Mandate) organization held a media briefing in Galle today, emphasizing that constructive debate is a foundational aspect of the legal profession and welcoming the government’s initiatives to resolve the backlog of court cases.
A large gathering of lawyers from the Galle District, including Supreme Court Attorney-at-Law Amaradiwakara Liyanarachchi, expressed their firm support for the comprehensive judicial reform package, which has already received Cabinet approval and recommendations from the Attorney General.
Addressing the media, representatives noted that engaging in open dialogue regarding these legislative adjustments provides a positive framework for addressing long-standing structural inefficiencies within the justice system.
