Pillayan Remanded Until August 4

The Batticaloa Magistrate’s Court today (24) ordered that former State Minister Sivanesathurai Santhirakanthan, alias Pillayan, who was arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), be further remanded until August 04.

The order was issued when the suspect was produced virtually (online) before Batticaloa Magistrate A. Tharshini today.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has filed cases against several suspects, including Pillayan, in connection with multiple homicides that occurred in the Batticaloa District in 2008.

Following the consideration of facts in court today regarding charges related to several incidents, including five murders in the Kallady area, the magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded until August 04.
