Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake emphasized in Parliament yesterday (24) that the National People’s Power (NPP) party will stand together to protect all its public representatives—from government ministers down to local council members—who remain accountable to the public.
He made these remarks during the parliamentary debate regarding the No-Confidence Motion brought by the opposition against the Minister of Justice and Prison Affairs, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara.
Furthermore, he stressed that the current government operates strictly in accordance with the mandate given by the people and will not be swayed by false accusations or slander propagated by the opposition.
