While supporters are brought in whenever Mahinda Rajapaksa and other family members face investigations into power abuse and criminal allegations, Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been left isolated without any such support.
A writ petition has been filed with the Court of Appeal seeking an order to prevent the arrest of Gotabaya Rajapaksa in connection with the investigation into the brutal Easter Sunday terror attacks. When the application was taken up for consideration yesterday (23), Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared in court alone, with no members of the Rajapaksa family present to support him. Notably, Namal Rajapaksa was seen attending only under the guise of wearing his lawyer’s attire.
Meanwhile, various recent surveys reveal that public trust and confidence in the ongoing judicial process currently remain at an all-time high.
