Ceylon Petroleum Corporation chairman DJ Rajakaruna states that there will be no shortage of fuel in Sri Lanka as the Corporation has sufficient oil reserves.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Government Information Department yesterday (12), the Chairman said that all the fuel, including petrol and diesel, has been ordered until next April.
This press conference was held to reveal the facts regarding news reports about the turning back of a ship carrying 30.000 metric tons of fuel imported by a foreign company to Sri Lanka. CPC Chairman DJ Rajakaruna stated that the diversion of the oil ship had no effect on the country’s oil reserves and that the ship was diverted due to an internal company problem.
He stated that the ship carried fifteen thousand metric tons of petrol and fifteen thousand metric tons of diesel and added that Ceylon Petroleum Company would supply fuel to the company’s fuel stations where the ship was scheduled to bring fuel.
He emphasized that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will take responsibility for the continuous supply of fuel in the country and will continue to supply fuel without being influenced by any pressure.
The CPC Chairman DJ Rajakaruna further emphasized that there was no truth in the media reports that the ship was diverted by the Corporation and that there may be a shortage of fuel in the country in the future.
