A recent audit report submitted regarding the Sri Lanka Railway Department reveals that only 1/4 of the train journeys for the year 2023 have been run on time.
It was planned to run 122,426 train journeys that year. Only 36,771 of them have been run on time. Eighty-five thousand six hundred fifty-five trips have been made and run.
The report also states that 10,571 journeys have been completely cancelled. Thus, the report has revealed many important facts about the railway department’s weakest position.
