The Road Development Authority states one side of the highway at the Welipanna entrance of the Southern Expressway has been completely flooded due to continuous torrential rains.
As a result, small vehicles cannot enter the expressway. Only lorries can travel, and vehicles travelling on the highway from Galle and Colombo Districts are also not allowed to exit the Welipanna interchange.
