Kolkata Knight Riders Triumph in IPL 2024, Securing Their Third Championship Title

In a commanding performance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched their third IPL title by defeating the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a robust eight-wicket victory. This triumph marks a nostalgic repeat of their first championship win at the same venue 12 years ago against Chennai Super Kings.

The final, held on Sunday, was dominated by KKR. After SRH captain Pat Cummins chose to bat first, KKR’s bowlers swiftly dismantled the top order. Mitchell Starc made an immediate impact by bowling out Sharma in the opening over. Vaibhav Arora continued the assault by claiming Head’s wicket and sending him back for his third duck in the tournament.

SunRisers Hyderabad struggled throughout their innings, ultimately setting a record for the lowest score in an IPL final, managing only 113 runs in 18.3 overs. The chase was brisk for Kolkata, highlighted by Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive half-century off just 24 balls, propelling KKR to an easy victory and marking their third win against SRH in this season alone.
