Foreign media reports that Chandrayaan-3 has successfully landed on the moon. As such, the spacecraft landed on the moon at 06.04 pm Indian time.
Chandrayaan 3, which means ‘Moon-craft’ in Hindi and Sanskrit, landed on the Moon to reach the previously unexplored South Pole.
India’s attempt to land Chandrayaan 2 in 2019 failed as it crashed on the moon.
However, a successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the Moon’s South Pole will allow India to analyze the liquid ice in its craters.
Astronomers also point out that it will be essential to identify the moon’s geological composition.
