The Colombo High Court hands down a life sentence to a woman found guilty of possessing and trafficking heroin following a lengthy trial.
Colombo High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne has sentenced a woman to life imprisonment after finding her guilty of possessing and trafficking heroin following a full trial.
The Attorney General had filed the case against the defendant over the possession and trafficking of 4.95 grams of heroin in the Wellampitiya area on August 13, 2022.
Delivering the verdict, the High Court Judge stated that the prosecution had proved the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.
Accordingly, the court imposed a sentence of life imprisonment on the defendant.
