The Colombo High Court postpones the trial against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, after defense counsel falls ill.
Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga yesterday (02) ordered the postponement of the trial in the money laundering case filed against Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
When the case was taken up, defendant Yoshitha Rajapaksa was present in court.
However, the court decided to adjourn the hearing after it was informed that the President’s Counsel representing the defense was indisposed due to illness.
The case was filed by the Attorney General under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, alleging that Yoshitha Rajapaksa committed an offense by purchasing five plots of land in the Dehiwala and Ratmalana areas valued at over LKR 73 million using illicit funds.
