Addressing a second letter to appointed President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Mahanayakes of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters have informed him that the government should take measures to control the cost of living and restore the people’s life in a manner that is sensitive to the public issues, and to conduct the local government elections as scheduled.
The Letter also states that instead of placing the entire burden of the economic crisis on the public, efforts the government should find means to reduce public suffering through practical solutions such as proper management of public funds, elimination of corruption, prevention of misuse of public resources, and removal of unlimited privileges enjoyed by public representatives.
