It was revealed at a media briefing that plans are afoot to go to court to prevent a massive financial embezzlement of over Rs. Sixteen billion will be committed if a cabinet memorandum submitted by Highways Minister Johnston Fernando is implemented.
Wasantha Samarasinghe, the convener of the Anti-Corruption Voice, who spoke at the media briefing, had revealed several relevant information. It was revealed that this financial crime would be committed during the construction of the Galagedara – Rambukkana section of the Central Expressway.
It was emphasized that preparations are being made to go to court to seek an order to prevent this and call for tenders again.
