The Sri Lankan woman infected with the Omicron virus found in this country has not been vaccinated, says Dr Chandima Jeewandara, Head of the Department of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
He further stated that the woman’s associates have been placed under quarantine.
Dr Jeewandara said that the testing of the biofilm samples sent for genetic sequencing has been completed and that no other suspected strains of the virus have been found in any of the samples.
He added that the final report of the investigation would be handed over to the Director-General of Health Services tomorrow.
