Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says harassment by summoning to the CID when commenting on suspicions surrounding the Easter Sunday terror attack cannot be approved.
He said people would not expect responsible leaders to resort to low acts of summoning to CID when talking about suspicious matters and added that they should enforce the law against those involved in and supported the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday.
The Cardinal said that someone who rules the country can be called a true leader only if he enforces the country’s law and said, “We will not give up the fight even if they kill us or take our lives.”
The Cardinal said this while handing over a house to Mr Pradeep Susantha, who lost his wife and children due to the attack on the Katuwapitiya Church.
The Cardinal also stated that when Presidential Commission recommended that former President Maithripala Sirisena and members of the security forces, who had only tried to ensure their own safety even when warnings of an attack were received, should be punished, the current rulers have so far failed to do so, sending down the drain the Rs. Six hundred million spent on the Presidential Commission.
