Dr Padma Gunaratne, Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Medical Association, says that there are five times as many infected people in the society as there are covid-19 patients who are hospitalized.
If this condition is to be controlled, travel restrictions should be imposed as much as possible, she said.
The specialist doctor said that the wards in the hospitals were full of infected people and that the general public did not seem to be following the health rules properly.
However, officials, including the Minister of Health, the Director-General of Health Services and the Deputy Director of Health Services, have repeatedly stated that covid-19 has not yet been socialized.
