Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, a physiotherapist at the Angoda Institute of Infectious Diseases, says that it is a serious mistake to be happy with the claim that the number of covid infections is in the range of 2,000 and states that the number of patients could increase further if people do not follow the health rules properly.
He added that it was largely believed that the Delta virus was responsible for the increase in the number of covid – 19 cases today.
Meanwhile, there is a significant increase in the number of covid patients in need of oxygen, especially in hospitals in the Western Province, he said.
If the country does not adopt a definite health policy, the country could return to where it was last May, he said.
