SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara says that some parties that supported the government have been subjected to the dominant ideology.
He says that the parties that supported Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s election as the president and then helped the government to get a two-thirds majority are being ignored.
“This is the sixth time that pro-government parties have met. We had our first meeting at Minister Wimal Weerawansa’s residence. These parties helped to appoint Mr. Gotabhaya and get the government a two thirds majority. Now we are ignored. I will say this everywhere until this issue is resolved,” said Mr. Jayasekara.
Currently there is a difference of opinion between the government parties and eleven partner parties. The partner parties held a special discussion at the SLFP headquarters recently.
Commenting on this Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said, “Any party can negotiate with other parties. However, you have to dance in the open though you wear masks to hide yourselves. We are always in the open. The People’s Front is not afraid of any party. Usually it is not the tail that wags the dog but the dog that wags the tail Commenting on this Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara stated that the parties discussed the effect of the Provincial Council Act on the minority parties.
