Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today (04), has been remanded until September 18 by Colombo Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
The Magistrate issued this order after considering the submissions made by Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara, representing the Bribery Commission, and the legal counsel representing the suspect.
Rajapaksa was arrested following investigations revealing that he had allegedly accepted a bribe of USD 800,000 in connection with the controversial Airbus aircraft procurement deal.
