16-Year-Old Athlete to Carry Sri Lankan Flag at Asian Games in Japan

Sixteen-year-old Nuyara Fernando has been selected to carry the Sri Lankan national flag at the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games, set to begin in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Carrying the national flag at the opening ceremony of the Games is considered a prestigious honor for athletes.

Sri Lanka will be represented by a contingent of 56 female and 100 male athletes competing across 25 sports events. Among them, Nuyara Fernando—the youngest athlete in the Sri Lankan delegation—will represent the nation in Artistic Gymnastics.
