Former Minister Chandrani Bandara to Face Trial on July 18

The Colombo High Court has set July 18 as the date for the trial of former Minister Chandrani Bandara, who faces serious corruption charges linked to her time in office during the Yahapalana administration.

Bandara, who held the portfolio of Women, Child Affairs, and Dry Zone Development, has been indicted on 11 counts, including allegations of abuse of power and irregular appointments. The charges stem from claims that she misused her position to install close associates in key ministry roles, bypassing established public service procedures.
