Strong warning about dollar deficit

The latest official reports reveal that the country’s export income has fallen by 651 million dollars compared to last year in the last six months, and despite extensive talks about growth in tourism, it has only increased by 195 million dollars in terms of foreign exchange earnings in the relevant six months.
In the last six months, from January to June 2022, the total export income was 6,522 million dollars, and this year, the export earnings during the same period have dropped to 5,871 million dollars. Also, in the first six months of last year, 680 million dollars had been earned from tourism; this year, it has grown to 875 million dollars.
It was revealed that the amount of foreign exchange earned from the tourism business has decreased this year. Demand for dollars has increased since the country lifted import restrictions over the past two months. Against this backdrop, the massive collapse in export earnings has raised serious alarm bells for the economy.
