More government petrol stations will be given to the private sector – Kanchana Wijesekera

Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that the control of a part of the 1,250 petrol stations controlled by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation will be given to private companies.
He emphasizes that the filling stations will be handed over to the private sector in November, and it is expected that these companies will be authorized to import, distribute and sell fuel.
He also says that the opportunity will be given to a few of the 24 companies that have submitted tenders.
Kanchana Wijesekera said this at the meeting held to review the progress of the programme to transfer part of the petrol stations controlled by Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to other private suppliers.
