Easter attack, a move to get votes at presidential polls – Cardinal

There are doubts as to whether the Easter attacks were allowed to take place to win votes says Archbishop Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.
The archbishop says there is more to the conspiracy than meets the eye and that the country’s rulers are trying to cover it up. He says the government is not making any effort to investigate and expose the conspirators. He also said that politicians had destroyed the rule of law in the country and that no one could think that he was safe or that justice would be served within this system.
The Cardinal said this at a conference on the current status of investigations into the Easter Sunday bombings held with Sri Lankans living in Europe using Zoom Technology.
He said DIG Nalaka Silva was arrested while he had obtained an arrest warrant for Saharan Hashim. The Cardinal added that the report of the Parliamentary Select Committee had recommended looking into whether there hadn’t been any move to act on intelligence received that the attacks were aimed at creating fear, uncertainty and unrest in the country to influence the Presidential election.
