It is reported that inflation has crossed the double-digit mark, the highest in the country’s history. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has announced that the highest inflation rate for the year was 11.1% in November.
At present, the prices of essential commodities in the market are rising sharply, and the recent increase in fuel prices by the government has made it inevitable that prices will continue to rise.
The central bank states surface inflation was 11.1 % in November and 8.3 % in October. It shows that inflation in November has risen by 2.8 %, and it is due to an increase in prices in both food and non-food categories.
