According to a statement issued by the Government Information Department, 4,612 covid-19 infected people have been found in the country today (29th).
The Department of Government Information states that the infected persons are reported from the New Year covid cluster.
At present, 59,796 infected people are being treated in hospitals, and the total number of infected people found in the country so far is 426,169. Also, 192 infected people died yesterday.
Accordingly, the official death toll in the country has risen to 8,775.
Sri Lanka is currently the 60th most infected country in the world. Sri Lanka also ranks 16th among the countries where daily infections are reported. Also, Sri Lanka currently ranks 9th among the countries with the highest daily deaths.
