Do people have to die without food or oxygen? Government should decide – Chandima Jeewandara

The time has come for the government to make a policy decision as to whether people should die of starvation or without oxygen, says Dr Chandima Jeewandara, Director, Institute of Allergy and Immunology and Physiology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Although food can be given to a person who has no food, oxygen cannot be provided.
He added that the effects of the Delta covid virus strain would intensify in the next two weeks.

“This delta effect has only just begun. The severity of this is expected in the future. The next two or three weeks, in particular, are very crucial.

It is twice as prevalent as the Wuhan variety. If we remove the mask for 5 seconds, it will be enough time to get infected. Strict measures should be taken at this time to prevent the spread of this virus.
The question we have in front of us is, do we die without food or die without oxygen? Of course, we do not have to die without food. Because someone with food will bring us, but we cannot survive without oxygen. We have to make new decisions and move forward. ”
He said this while participating in a program on a private television channel.
