15 billion worth of fertilizer imported

The Cabinet has approved the expenditure of over Rs. 15 billion in foreign exchange for the importation of a stock of fertilizers labelled as organic fertilizers and natural minerals.
The Cabinet Memorandum was presented by Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage on the 2nd and was approved on the 9th. Accordingly, it will cost US$ 367,26,409 to import 1,28,167 metric tons of the so-called organic fertilizer.
The government is preparing to import 96,000 tons of nitrogen granular fertilizer, 3,000 metric tons of nitrogen protein-peptide and 29,167 metric tons of potassium chloride. It is stated that this fertilizer will be imported for the 2021/22 season.
