Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is also the Minister of Economic Policy and Plan Implementation has submitted a Cabinet Memorandum on behalf the ministry to obtain a building for rent of Rs. 29 lakhs per month.
It was filed on July 17, and the need to acquire a suitable private building on rent had been mentioned. The memorandum also states that the “Ministry will be located near the Prime Minister’s Office and Temple Trees, making it practically easier to carry out the duties. The 6th and 7th floors of the H. Q. Colombo building on Jaya Mawatha have been identified as suitable.”
