Agreement will be cancelled if price of vaccine is revealed – Chinese company sets conditions

The Chinese company that manufactures the vaccine has announced that it will cancel the peace agreement if the price of a Synovac vaccine to be sold in Sri Lanka is revealed. These terms are included in the Memorandum of Understanding between Sinovac Lifesciences Co.Ltd of China and Kelun Lifesciences Pvt Ltd of Sri Lanka. Accordingly, publicizing or publicly discussing the price of a vaccine will result in the termination of the agreement.
Earlier, the media had reported that a synopharm vaccine given to Sri Lanka for US$ 15 was given to Bangladesh for US$ 10.
In a letter to State Minister Channa Jayasumana, Kelun Lifesciences Pvt Ltd said that another condition of the agreement was that Sri Lanka should purchase 13 million vaccines. It states that the first batch of vaccine of 3 million must be paid in advance and the remaining 10 million can be credited. Recently, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa addressing the nation stated that Sri Lanka will receive 13 million vaccines by September. That is in accordance with this agreement.
