It is learned that although about 100,000 pregnant mothers in the country have to be vaccinated against covid, the vaccination programme for such mothers has completely collapsed due to the government’s negligence.
This was revealed at a press conference held by the President of the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology and other representatives.
The vaccination program for pregnant mothers has completely collapsed due to the failure to provide the required vaccines. Although the required recommended vaccines should be reserved for those mothers, the government, including the Ministry of Health, has not made such a reservation.
As such, it has been revealed at the media briefing that only about 200 pregnant mothers have been vaccinated so far. The vaccine has been administered at the Piliyandala Medical Officer of Health Division and in Castle Women’s Hospital, Borella.
