A protest organized by the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) at the Fort Railway Station today (21) demanding the government to tear up the Kotelawala Private University Act, which is destroying free education and is to be passed under the guise of the epidemic, was obstructed by the police.
Police also picked up a model of a coffin labeled “Funeral of Free Education” by university students and loaded it into a police jeep.
A tense situation occurred between the police and the university students when the police were about to remove a effigy that had been prepared by the students.
