Udubadana farmers hoist black flags

Farmers in Bogahakumbura Udubadana staged a protest yesterday (16th) alleging that they had to abandon their fields as they have not got any fertilizers to cultivate during the Yala season this year.
Protesters marched through the village to the plantations carrying black flags and placards. They then chanted slogans from their paddy fields, which could not be cultivated without fertilizer. Here the farmers threw up seed potatoes saying that the seeds cannot be cultivated and would be destroyed in the houses.
