As the health sector has identified an increased risk of the spread of the covid-19 virus in the Trincomalee District the Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath has appealed to the public to refrain from visiting the District except as a matter of urgency.
The Governor has instructed the security forces today (23rd) to deploy roadblocks and prevent people from going about without a valid reason.
Meanwhile, the Governor has requested the security forces to implement a special security plan in Trincomalee during the next few days and to strictly enforce the law against anyone violating the Quarantine Act.
The Governor has instructed the relevant authorities to take the necessary steps to restrict the number of people coming to Trincomalee from Gomarankadawala and Padavi Sri Pura areas where a large number of kidney patients have been reported. Health officials have revealed that covid-19 infection in kidney patients occurs quickly.
