The introduction of the ‘Port City Economic Commission Act’ is an attempt to establish another country in Sri Lanka and it is a betrayal of the country’s sovereignty, says the Secretary of the National Bhikkhu Front Ven. Wakamulle Uditha Thero.
Speaking further the Thero said, “If this bill is passed, there is a possibility of establishing a territory that is not regulated by the existing legal system or not governed by financial provisions of Sri Lanka and will be an impediment to the independence of Sri Lanka. It can be said very clearly as the creation of another country within the country. Therefore, one cannot help but wonder if Gotabaya is doing what Prabhakaran could not do.
Our motherland has been made miserable due to the failure of the rulers who ruled the country for 73 years. The statement that the 1,115-acre port city could achieve the economic prosperity 65,610 square kilometres could not achieve for 73 years is a manifestation of the incompetence and idiocy of the rulers.”
