There were political motives behind the Easter attack – Archbishop

The Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said at a ceremony held at the Katuwapitiya Church today (21st) on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the April 21 attack that there were political motives behind the Easter attack and regretted the slippery way the current government and the previous government were acting regarding the incident.
“This is not a day of remembrance; it is a day of pain. We do not support the process of correcting the culprits without attempting to find the truth. Two years have passed since the severe crime was committed, but the authorities have failed to reveal the culprits to the country. We are deeply saddened by the indifferent and politically sluggish decision-making process of the then and present governments towards these brutal murders.
It is becoming clear to all of us that there are political motives behind this attack. We need to know the truth about this conspiracy. It has not been possible to find out who is behind this process. No one has been able to conduct an impartial inquiry into this.

The reason is the party that activates the political mechanism. Revealing the truth without suppressing it is a virtue of humanity.”
