Story that Wimal, Vasu and Gammanpila walked out of party leaders’ meeting is a canard

Sources at Temple Trees say that there is no truth in reports that ministers Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Udaya Gammanpila walked out in the middle of a meeting of leaders of member parties of the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP).
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has convened a meeting of the leaders of 11 minority parties representing the SLPP at Temple Trees yesterday (19th afternoon. However, Wimal, Gammanpila and |Wasu had met the PM in the morning and had stated they would not be able to attend the meting and had asked for another date for the meeting.
The Prime Minister had not responded well to the request of the three Ministers. “You at various instances say that you are not given an opportunity to talk. But when a meeting is convened you abscond,” the PM has said. However, a party representative who attended the meeting told Lankatruth that the party leadership meeting was held successfully as scheduled without Wimal, Vasu and Gammanpila.
