LKR 320 Million Worth of ‘Kush’ Abandoned at Katunayake Airport

Officers of the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport seized a haul of “Kush” cannabis valued at LKR 320 million left abandoned near luggage belt No. 06 early this morning (15).

The stash of Kush was found packed in 60 airtight packets stored inside two traveling bags.

Initial investigations revealed that the narcotics were brought in by a passenger arriving on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-405 from Bangkok, Thailand. PNB officers suspect the suspect abandoned the luggage and fled upon realizing that security measures made it impossible to pass through without being arrested.

The Police Narcotic Bureau, in collaboration with SriLankan Airlines, has launched a comprehensive investigation using CCTV footage from the airport to identify and arrest the passenger responsible for smuggling the contraband.
