Namal Rajapaksa, Sajith Premadasa, Dilith Jayaweera, Patali Champika Ranawaka, and a group of remnant opposition figures have relocated for the fourth time in their attempt to form a common alliance against the government.
Initially, these groups gathered when Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested over allegations of misusing public funds. Their second gathering took place when Mahinda Rajapaksa was summoned by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) to record a statement. The third time they assembled as a cluster was centered around former State Intelligence Service (SIS) chief Suresh Sallay, following a court-issued travel ban against three individuals, including Gotabaya Rajapaksa, over the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
For their fourth gathering yesterday (24), all these remnant factions convened at the Opposition Leader’s Office upon a call by Sajith Premadasa, reportedly following a written request made by Namal Rajapaksa. Political observers point out that much like swarms of hornets or honeybees moving from place to place, this group continuously gathers at different venues before dispersing again.
