Rumi Reuben, a specialist psychiatrist at the Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital, says there is a risk of memory loss in children due to addiction to mobile phones and internet activities.
He says that parents should be cautious about their children’s extreme use of these devices.
Specialist Psychiatrist Rumi Reuben, speaking to the media in the Galle area, said, “The first thing that happens through these addictions is the disruption of children’s education. After that, the children feel like surfing the internet. After that, they become addicted to video games. It has now been recognized that this is a serious condition and a mental illness. Parents can be seen as enemies.”
