The NPP today (14th) moved a motion to recall the egg attack case based on the Nittambuwa Police’s initial report to the court. The egg attack was carried out by a group of thugs present at the Gampaha District Convention of the NPP on January 30.
Following the motion, the judge continuously questioned the police about allegations of police misconduct and contempt of court and arrests of complainants. Police reported reports of an assault on the suspects by the plaintiffs.
After considering the facts, the judge ordered that the case be recalled on March 7 and that both parties be produced before the court on that day.
The JVP and the NPP have repeatedly stated that Avangarde owner Nissanka Senadhipathi, a close associate of the President, was directly involved in the egg attack.
