A comprehensive investigation has been launched into the death of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne. The case has been handed over to the Special Investigation Unit of the Western Province South Crime Division.
The directive was issued by the current IGP, Counsel Priyantha Weerasooriya.
Investigators are currently awaiting the Government Analyst’s report, the post-mortem report, and detailed findings from the crime scene inspections to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
The former IGP was found dead with gunshot wounds. The ongoing investigation aims to determine whether the death was a suicide or a homicide.
