Bribery Commission Seeks Arrest Warrant for Rajitha Senaratne

The Bribery Commission today requested the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to issue a warrant to arrest former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne over his failure to appear for questioning in an ongoing investigation.

The request was made before Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala. Officials from the Commission stated that Senaratne had repeatedly avoided summons and failed to cooperate with the probe.

However, the Magistrate stressed that an arrest warrant could not be issued without reviewing the necessary investigative documents. He also clarified that the Commission is legally empowered to arrest the former minister without prior court approval.

Bribery Commission officials informed the court that they plan to submit the required documentation in due course to support their request.
