It is reported that the government and all other opposition parties have agreed to cancel all the nominations accepted for the local government bodies to be held in March 2023.
A special discussion was held in Parliament last Monday under the leadership of Bimal Ratnayake, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Speaker of the House. All the opposition parties representing the Parliament agreed to cancel the nominations.
Meanwhile, a group of civil organizations and citizens declare that the law should be enforced against all parties responsible for the criminal waste of public money incurred for the election’s prerequisites.
