The Police Media Division says that a special discussion was held yesterday (3) at the Police Headquarters under the leadership of Ravi Seneviratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security.
This special discussion has been held to find out the progress of various investigations conducted by the police regarding the national level crimes, frauds and other special crimes that have led to controversy in this country.
The police said Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya, a group of senior police officers, and a group of senior officers of the Criminal Investigation Department also joined the discussion.
Much attention was paid to what investigations are currently being carried out, what investigations, if any, have been temporarily stopped, and whether there have been political reasons for stopping them.
Special attention was also paid to the investigations that had been delayed unnecessarily and to those that should be started anew, if any.
The police media division added that attention has been paid to many important investigations. A report will be prepared on the matters related to the discussion, and further investigations will be carried out.
