Yesterday (13), the Eastern Province witnessed an unprecedented turnout at all six rallies, each graced by the presence of NPP presidential candidate Anura Dissanayake.
It is also significant that the masses participating in this series of rallies held in Ampara, Akkarapatthu, Oluvil, Nedavur, Samanture and Saindamarudu participated enthusiastically.
Political commentators say that Anura Kumara Dissanayake is achieving a historic victory by starting a massive social transformation and that he has won considerable trust of the people of the northern and eastern provinces.
They say that the traditional political parties’ manipulations during this presidential election were broken, and even those political parties will have to rethink their positions after the election.
