There has been strong condemnation within the security forces regarding the Air Force’s salute to Jalani Premadasa, Sajith Premadasa’s wife.
There is a lot of discussion about this, not only on social media but also in the mainstream. Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapakse has been questioned about what steps he would be taking regarding the Air Force’s salute.
It is said that such a salute should be offered only for funerals at which the national anthem, the national flag, the head of state, a foreign head of state, and members of the security forces participate in uniform.
Despite this, many say the Air Force saluting Jalani Premadsa is a black mark on the Air Force’s reputation. It has also become a topic of discussion in the other security forces.
