Upcountry people leave Digambaram to support NPP

Upcountry Peoples Power states that it will support Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the National People’s Power presidential candidate, in the 2024 presidential election, which will be held on the 21st of this month.

Upcountry Peoples Power leader Raman Senduran confirmed this while holding a press conference at Kotagala in Hatton yesterday (10).
In a meeting, the leader of the Upcountry People’s Power and a group of its active members said that although many members of various political parties have been in the country’s leadership for nearly 40 years, none of them have taken steps to raise the economy of the plantation people or improve their infrastructure.
Raman Senduran said they have decided to support  NPP presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, and the people in the plantations will contribute immensely to making Anura Kumara Dissanayake the President of this country.
A separate political party was formed under the leadership of Raman Senduran as Upcountry People’s Power when the progressive group left Palani Digambaram’s party, the National Labour Union, which is a member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya alliance.
