According to the PAFFREL organization, several election monitoring organizations are implementing a joint programme to monitor whether the presidential election candidates are engaged in campaign activities within the expenditure limits set for them.
Rohana Hettiarachchi, executive director of the PAFFREL organization, states that they expect the project to receive the support of the voters as well.
Accordingly, the website called “Chanda Salli Meetare” (Campaign Finance Meter) has been provided to provide information, and voters can also provide information regarding election expenses through this, he said.
Rohana Hettiarachchi further stated that the programme will be implemented by an external party so as not to interfere with the candidates’ election campaign activities.
