Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s Ratnapura District Member of Parliament Thalatha Athukorala resigned from her position a few moments ago.
She made a special statement in parliament and said she entered politics by accident. Although she requested on various occasions to defuse the conflict between UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and deputy leader Sajith Premadasa, there was no other plan except that Sajith Preramadasa wanted to come to power.
She resigned after stating that at a time when she had to make a sensitive decision in her political career, she had to explain her move to those who voted for her. She had received 45,105 votes from Ratnapura district in the last parliamentary election.
